War's Night Horses and Their Riders

Some background:
Night Horses are mythical creatures that I created, and have the typical appearance of a horse with some abnormal features. Most noticably, their broad wings; shaped a bit like a dragon's but, instead of scales, are covered by tough, leathery skin. Their eyes are various shades of red, from exceptionally bright to almost brown, and they have sharp teeth as well as a pair of longer, sharper fangs. A Night Horse's skin is harder than steel, and extremely difficult to penetrate. They are able to communicate both aloud and mentally, and can be very short tempered.

Atrox

With a roar that shatters the sky, he is a well known and feared Night Horse. His skill as a fighter is terrifying, as he fights with alarming ferocity. He’s uniquely coloured, with a pure black coat, four tall white socks, a blaze, and long, leathery wings. Atrox is incredibly brave and often reckless, and loves to fight. Despite this, he is very intelligent and honest. He has a big heart, and would rather die than betray those he cares for. His bond with Tora is exceptionally powerful and he would stop at nothing to protect her.

Tora

With her gentle, thoughtful personality and her incredibly powerful loyalty, many people are surprised by her violent ferocity in battle. Wielding her two swords with shocking precision, she's a mere blur across the battlefield, leaving wounded and dead enemies in her wake. Once she's a friend Tora's a friend for life, and simply the idea of betrayel fills her with rage. She is able to use simple but strong forms of magic, but rarely needs to use it. Her keen eyes are strangely coloured, as they were once pale brown but have started changing to grey, and her hair is a deep shade of brown. Atrox is Tora's Night Horse, and their bond is incredibly strong.

Palleo

Despite his bright colouring, he is an unusually quiet Night Horse. He always seems to be deep in thought, observing all that goes on around him. When he does speak, it is only when he feels like it or when he loses his temper. Palleo’s coat is a radiant, golden buckskin colour that becomes dark grey over his wings, and he is very powerfully built (like a Shire cross). He’s a merciless fighter, courageous and surprisingly loyal. Befriend him, and he’ll risk his life for you, but if you get on his bad side you won’t live for long. His bond with Luthar is powerful, though it can be hard to tell.

Luthar

Swinging his long sword with ferocious precision, he’s not the sort of person you want to get into a fight with. His sword acts as a shield and blocks out nearly all magic used against him, as well as being a lethal weapon. Luthar doesn’t say much and keeps to himself, but when it comes to a fight he’ll never back down. He’s never been defeated in a sword duel, and when let loose on the battlefield he won’t leave a single enemy standing. His deep blue eyes seem to be full of secrets and his black hair is the same shade as Palleo's mane. Although he'd never admit it, he would die for Palleo and cares a lot about him.

Magna

A bold Night Horse stallion with a brave and fiery spirit, he fears nothing and is greatly feared by his enemies. He’ll fight on the good side until the day of his death, which won’t be any time soon. Magna is a brilliantly skilled and undefeated fighter with a heart of solid gold. He looks out for his friends and won’t ever hesitate to defend them. His coat is the deepest brown, often mistaken for black, and his wings are broad and strong. Known for his pride and short temper, he demands respect wherever he goes.

Kaedas

Slimmer than most other Night Horses, her speed excels that of any other on both the ground and in the sky. Her agility and precision is incredible, and she uses it to her advantage in battle, darting around her opponent and easily dodging attacks thrown her way. Despite her skill as a fighter, Kaedas is kind and gentle, preferring to soar peacefully than to engage in a duel. Her shining coat is a deep shade of scarlet, a colour very similar to blood, and her darker wings are long but not very wide.

Odyum

Filled with an undying hate for all things, she is a dark and extremely dangerous Night Horse. Over the many years of her existence, she has become numb to all pain and very powerful. Her blood red eyes are filled with rage and her fangs are unusually long and sharp. Odyum’s coat is dark grey and covered in dapples, and her leathery wings are black. While all other Night Horses roar, Odyum has a horrifying, soul twisting scream. Any living thing she comes across she instantly wants to destroy, friend or foe.

Torvic

A truly enormous and horrifying Night Horse, he easily towers above all others. His strength is endless, and his blood thirsty nature makes him a fearsome and extremely dangerous opponent. Torvic loves to fight, and when he isn’t looking for Night Horses to challenge he’s out hunting humans or any other unfortunate creatures. His coat is a mix of deep and soft browns and his eyes are a bright scarlet. To compensate for his massive weight, his wings stretch to an incredible length.

Insana

Once a good friend of Atrox, he is quickly driven into a wild frenzy at the idea of battle and bloodshed. Because of this, he isolated himself from all others and lived alone for many years before he dared venture into the open. Though Insana now has more control over his vicious reaction to fights, extreme care must be taken when around him as his nature can shift easily. His gleaming coat is the very lightest shade of grey and his wings are able to propel him through the air at top speeds. When he’s not desperately bloodthirsty he is unusually friendly and tries to fight for the good side, though he often ends up doing more damage than good.
